City Of Shadows: Gertrude

STAGE SHADOWS 1999 SEASON AT MT&R BEGINS WITH

"CITY OF SHADOWS: GERTRUDE"

STAGE SHADOWS began its 1999 season of live audio theatre at the Museum of Television & Radio in midtown Manhattan, on January 19, 1999 with the highly anticipated second drama in Anthony P. Pennino's original series, "CITY OF SHADOWS" and was broadcast on WFUV 90.7 FM on February 27, 1999. "City of Shadows: Gertrude" fuses past, present and future as it focuses on the dangerous wartime years of Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas in Axis-occupied France. Psychologist William James and Klaus Barbie, "The Butcher of Lyon", stare at each other across a harrowing abyss, as Mr. Pennino continues his story of the desperate conflicts of Paul Vadier and Victor Petion as their lives and fates play out in Paris, Lyon, Aix-les-Bains and Boston. The taut one-hour production is recorded in front of a studio audience, complete with live sound effects & music.
